Adoption
We recognize that an adoption is the most important decision a
possible pet owner can ever make, because that decision can
permanently impact an animal’s life. At the Louisiana SPCA our
adoptions are designed to develop life time connections; to form lasting bonds by
matching the expectations of a potential pet guardian to a
shelter animal based on his or her temperament and behavior. The
goal is to lay a strong foundation for the human-animal bond to
develop, increasing the potential for a successful, permanent
placement.

Seven days a week from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

an offsite adoption event?
We realize that visiting an animal shelter can be an
overwhelming experience for some. You may find yourself wanting
to take every animal home, and although it's unrealistic, your
heart breaks at the idea of not being able to do so. That is why
our satellite adoption centers and offsite adoption days
play such a vital role in finding homes for our animals. If
you can't come here, we bring the animals to you.
Animals chosen for remote adoption opportunities are some of our
sweetest available pets, but for whatever reason they have been
overlooked during their stay at our main facility. Perhaps it’s
an age issue, or maybe it’s being a bit shy or the ‘wrong’ color
to stand out in a crowd. Placement at a satellite adoption
center is their chance to be the center of attention and the
star of the show, as is traveling to an offsite adoption event.
